(Nasdaq: PALM), a leading provider of handheld computers, today opens the COMDEX tradeshow with a new Palm Store, special product offers and several speaking engagements planned for the week of Nov. 12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Palm remains the undisputed leader in handheld computing with more than 175,00 innovative developers and solutions providers -- and 32 of these companies will be exhibiting in the Palm booth (No. L6155). For the first time at a tradeshow, visitors can purchase Palm(TM) handhelds, accessories and Expansion Cards in a new Palm Store located in the company's booth. Preceding retail outlets, the Palm Store is the first place the new PalmPak(R) Travel Card: Rand McNally Road Atlas will be available for purchase. In addition, the Palm OS(R) 4.1 upgrade, scheduled for general availability on Nov. 15, is being made available in advance to conference attendees at the Palm Store. Other notable products offered at the Palm Store include the recently announced PalmPak eBook series (Personal Finance, Mystery and Sci-Fi editions) and the Palm m125, m500, m505 and m105 handhelds. "Tradeshow after tradeshow, people request to purchase Palm products on the show floor," said Satjiv Chahil, Palm's chief marketing officer. "The Palm Store gives them the opportunity to take home our latest products and other accessories -- including faceplates for the m100 series and slim leather cases for the m500 series -- all at very attractive prices." Palm News at COMDEX In separate releases today, Palm also made several joint and third-party announcements at COMDEX: -- Palm and Rand McNally announced a marketing alliance to deliver a co-branded mobile travel solution and debuted the PalmPak Travel Card: Rand McNally Road Atlas for Palm m505, m500 and m125 handhelds. -- Palm and Panasonic launched new promotions for Secure Digital (SD) Memory Cards and SD-enabled products. Palm's Satjiv Chahil will be present at a press event to be held at the SD Association Pavilion at 10:30 a.m. this morning. -- Palm and Copytalk announced a marketing alliance in which Palm will become Copytalk's exclusive hardware partner through March 2002. -- Palm and BoomerangIt announced the availability of BoomerangIt's loss-protection service for Palm handhelds and accessories. This session, sponsored by Harvard Business School Publishing and McKinsey & Company, will explore creative ways to attract and retain long-term customer loyalty. -- Tuesday, Nov. 13, 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., MGM Conference Center, Rm. 101 Dan Glessner, director of Enterprise Marketing at Palm, is scheduled to speak at Customer 360 on "The Impact of Mobile/Pervasive Computing on Sales Automation." This debate will focus on the move to pervasive computing and what that means for enterprises in the next two to three years. -- Tuesday, Nov. 13, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Las Vegas Hilton, Ballroom C David Nagel, chief executive officer of the Platform Solutions Group at Palm, is scheduled to speak on "Pioneering the Digital Lifestyle." This SuperSession panel will explore the future of the new digital world and discuss the physical, cultural and psychological implications for society.
