Flint adds more Bluetooth antennas

Two new 2.4GHz SMD antennas from Flint Wireless allow important size and weight savings for Bluetooth, HomeRF and IEEE 802.11 designs.

The gigaAnt Limata and Mica antennas are 1/4 wave; ground plane dependent devices delivering high gain performance and efficiency in a low profile, lightweight package designed for automated assembly.  The Mica antenna is a 2.5dBi gain device measuring 20.5 x 3.35 x 3.6mm and weighing 0.4g. Parameters include VSWR less than 2.0:1 and typical efficiency greater than 50%.  Operating temperature range is -40degC to +85degC, and the antenna will perform in 93% relative humidity.  Available on tape and reel in units of 500 or 2000 pieces, Mica is also available in bulk quantities.

The smaller and lighter gigaAnt Limata measures just 18.5 x 3.9 x 1.0mm and weighs in at 0.2g.  Gain performance is 2dBi, with greater than 50% typical efficiency and less than 2.0:1 VSWR.

As these are both ground plane dependent devices, careful PCB layout is essential for optimum performance because the PCB assembly acts as part of the antenna.  Customers who need RF design assistance will find the support they need, including advanced measuring and custom tuning equipment as well as design guidance by contacting Flint Wireless directly.
