P800 (Coming Soon) is the most advanced mobile phone from Sony Ericsson. It has an integrated digital camera, a colour screen and a wide range of imaging features. Take a picture, compose a colourful Multimedia Message, (MMS), and send it instantly, to an MMS capable devices or to an e-mail address. The P800 acts like a mobile and thinks like a PDA. You can store up to 1000 contacts, organise meetings and tasks in the calendar and make notes (written or voiced) in the notepad. The P800 also handles e-mail with attachments, and has four viewers for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Acrobat documents – plus more than 20 viewers for other document formats on CD. Contacts, calendar, notes and e-mail can all be synchronised with Outlook and Lotus Notes on your PC via Bluetooth or cable. The Symbian operating system and Java support lets you store new applications and games to customise the P800 to fit your needs. The P800 also supports GPRS, High Speed Data and WAP 2.0 with one button access to the mobile Internet.

The P800 multimedia GSM 900/1800/1900 phone, announced in March 2002, is scheduled for market launch 3Q2000.  Featuring landscape colour screen, polyphonic sound, inbuilt camera and supporting Bluetooth, IR and cable connectivity, it will have 12MB internal memory and feature extendable memory through Memory Stick Duo (16MB), games and MP3-player capabilities. Memory Stick Duo allows file back-up and transfer of documents, pictures and music between the P800 and a PC.   

A special version of the P800, the P802, will be available for the Chinese market supporting Chinese handwriting recognition, text input, dictionary, games and Lunar calendar

The P800 can play local and streaming media files - eg a sequence from a sports event, music video or movie trailer. The P800 is also an organizer, with calendar, e-mail, address book and to-do-lists, all of which can be backed up on the Memory Stick Duo and synchronized with the most common office applications on a PC. The P800 enables to take notes and view files such as Powerpoint, Word or Excel. Its integrated browser can access the Internet (HTML, xHTML, cHTML) and WAP. 

Bluetooth enables the P800 to be connected to a Bluetooth headset, a PC, or other Bluetooth-enabled gadgets.

The P800 runs on the latest version of the open operating system, Symbian OS v7.0 and incorporates the  UIQ pen-based user interface. As the P800 is open, one can download corporate applications or games based on Java and C++, which means that consumers can update their handsets regularly with new applications and content.
